ISIS did not exist in Libya yet, and this was a relatively peaceful week, nonetheless, violence continued unabated in Benghazi with more assassinations and targeted attacks presumed to be carried out by Islamist militants.

Following on from Benghazi’s ‘Bloody Friday’ last week when ten people including two youth peace activists were shot dead, there have been more targeted assassinations in Benghazi this week.

World media reported that Hafter made good on his threat to bomb the Benghazi port on Wednesday the 24th.

Although, ISIS did not yet exist in Libya, Jihadis were gaining the upper hand in opposing Haftar in Eastern Libya. Benghazi has been rocked by another string of assassinations.

News this week that Haftar has received 8 military jets that were sent abroad for reconditioning suggests that he has no intention of giving up the fight.

Benghazi has been rocked by a series of assassinations, many of them carried out on Friday 17th September. These assassinations caused a particular stir because among the dead were two well-known young peace activists who were aged just 17 and 18.
