On 12 April, the Libyan Air Force (LAF) conducted an airstrike targeting an ISIS convoy traveling from Sirte towards Sidra. The LAF may soon have a new MiG-23 entering service, following refurbishment and outfitting the plane with new a night vision system, missiles, guided bombs and a refueling system. Multiple airstrikes also occurred in Benghazi during the last week, including the destruction of a large barge carrying supplies for militants.
On 9 April, the Mujahedeen Shura Council of Derna (MSCD) thwarted an attempted ISIS assault in Al Fatieh area. The area had been previously rigged with explosives to ward of a potential ISIS incursion. Three ISIS fighters were killed in the assault, while another two were killed during their withdrawal from the area. Meanwhile, on 10 April, MSCD said it had arrested two ISIS fighters allegedly responsible for placing IEDs under vehicles in Derna.
