26 September – 2 October: GNA to redraw security arrangements in the Tripoli
Following the conclusion of clashes in Tripoli on 25 September, the GNA is moving to redraw security arrangements in the capital through the UN facilitated Security Arrangements Committee of Greater Tripoli. In light of this the GNA Local Government Minister is hosting a meeting of municipal mayors on 2 October to discuss decentralisation and the devolution of security functions to municipalities.
19 September – 25 September: Bodies of those killed by ISIS in Derna recovered
On 24 September, as many as eight dead bodies belonging to the Libyan National Army were unearthed in Derna following the confessions of alleged ISIS militants. On 17 September, the Sirte Protection Force (SPF) uncovered a cache of unexploded ordnance abandoned by ISIS.
19 September – 25 September: Suspected al-Qaeda members attack security official in Sebha
On 21 September, suspected Al-Qaeda members launched an attack using an RPG on a senior security official in Sebha.
19 September – 25 September: France calls for stronger UN sanctions on those blocking Libyan political solution
On 24 September, France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian called for stronger UN sanctions on Libyans attempting to block a political solution to the current crisis.
19 September – 25 September: Tentative conclusion reached to the clashes in southern Tripoli
On 25 September, a ceasefire was brokered between the Tripoli Protection Force and Tarhuna’s 7th Brigade that saw the latter withdraw to the areas of control agreed in the UN-brokered ceasefire of 9 September. This coincided with forces under the command of Salah Badi retreating withdrawing from the Airport road.
12 September – 18 September: ISIS published details of their attack on the NOC
On 14 September, ISIS published the 147 issue of their weekly al-Naba newsletter that included details of their attack on the headquarters of the National Oil Corporation in Tripoli.
12 September – 18 September: LNA arrest two suspected terrorists in Ajdabiya
Libyan National Army’s RADA Central Deterrent Forces arrested two suspected terrorists in Ajdabiya. On 14 September, a terrorist attack was reported to have occurred targeting the Zliten Security Directorate.
12 September – 18 September: UN and US Sanction Ibrahim Jadhran
On 11 September, the UN Security Council Committee sanctioned rebel militant Ibrahim Jadhran. The following day, the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control also sanctioned Jadhran for his attacks on the Oil Crescent.

On 18 September, hostilities erupt between militia groups south of Tripoli despite UN ceasefire. On 17 September, the security of Tripoli’s Mitigia airport had been handed over to the Central Security Forces. On 16 September, the GNA form joint force under the leadership of the commander of the western military zone.
