On 24 September, France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian called for stronger UN sanctions on Libyans attempting to block a political solution to the current crisis. In particular, Le Drain called for sanctions to be placed on militia members who have recently threaten Tripoli’s security and urged for tighter controls on cash flows resulting from Libyan oil revenue in order to limit funding to rebel armed groups.
