On 31 January, the UN Security Council (UNSC) voted for a technical roll over of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) mandate for three months until April 30 2022, following an alleged dispute between the UK and Russia over the former’s initial extension draft. In light of the current division, UN Secretary General Antonio Gutteres has called for unity from the international community and UN members particularly in relation to Libya.
