On 5 January, the House of Representatives (HoR) Speaker Aqeela Saleh and High State Council (HSC) Head Khaled Mishri met in Cairo. They released a joint communiqué in which they agreed to hold talks to achieve a draft constitutional document to serve as the constitutional basis for national elections. According to the communiqué, both Saleh and Mishri agreed that discussions on a new roadmap to elections would be developed after the constitutional basis for elections is established. According to reports, Saleh and Mishri have scheduled further discussions in Tobruk over the coming week.
