On 3 January, it was reported that clashes between the Balkour militia and al-Mashreqi militia broke out in the al-Matmar area of al-Ajilat. According to reports, light and medium weapons were deployed. The Red Crescent advised residents to stay indoors while all educational activities in the city were suspended. Renewed clashes reportedly took place on 6 January. Reports alleged that the Balkour militia stormed the homes of residents in al-Matmar, demanding that they pay a bribe. Residents refused, and clashes broke out. Local media sources reported that the clashes resulted in one death and two injuries.
