On 4 March, the governments of France, Germany, Italy, the US and the UK released a joint statement noting the UN Secretary-General’s statement and ‘expressing our concern at recent reports of violence, threats of violence, intimidation, and kidnappings’. The statement reiterated support for UN mediation efforts through the SASG and UNSMIL. The EU released a very similar statement on the same day, calling on actors not to ‘undermine the hard-won stability achieved since the signing of the ceasefire agreement in 2020.’
