Haftar is still battling it out against Islamist militants in Benghazi. There has been further violence this week in a number of neighbourhoods including Al-Sabri and Hawari that Haftar’s forces have yet to take control of. Meanwhile Ansar Al-Sharia, which is part of the Benghazi Revolutionaries Shura Council, appears to have been firing missiles randomly into parts of the city including Benghazi University.
However, there have been some positive developments in those neighbourhoods that Haftar has been able to secure. This week saw the Benghazi Security Directorate, as well as local police elements, being reactivated. However, actually taking control of the whole city is still some way off.
