On 28 January, a statement from the Libyan National Army’s (LNA) Al-Karama Military Operation Room surfaced online claiming that the LNA had received information that the UK Embassy in Tripoli is moving to assemble the militias of the Western Region under the banner ‘Revolutionary Military Council February 17’. According to the statement, members of the British Embassy are gathering the militias to attack the LNA in the South and at oilfields. It accused the UK of having contact with ‘sleeper cells’ in Ghat, Awbari, and Jabal al- Hasawnah including ISIS and Al-Qaeda linked groups.
