On 18 February, General Abdullah Mansour al-Suleimani, the former Director of Internal Security under Muammar Qadhafi, was released from prison. Following his release, Suleimani travelled to Niamey, Niger, where he was reportedly received by Muhammad Mansour, the representative of the President of Niger, and a delegation from the Nigerien presidency. Suleimani was reportedly released by the Government of National Unity (GNU) in coordination with the Attorney General and Military Prosecutor’s Office. The Awlad Suleiman tribe thanked the role of the Libyan National Army (LNA) head Khalifa Haftar in securing Suleimani’s release through mediation with the Presidential Council.
