On 9 February, clashes broke out in Tajoura, east of Tripoli, between the al-Duraa militia (aka the Baqara Brigade named after its commander Bashir Khalaf Allah or ‘the cow’) and the Sabriyya militia. The clashes were reportedly prompted when a member of the Sabriyya militia was killed by members of al-Duraa. A number of roads in Tajoura were closed and flights from Mitiga International Airport were temporarily suspended.
