On 30 August, the Head of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Khalifa Haftar, visited Kufra in south-eastern Libya and met with local social and military leaders. In a speech, Haftar stressed that the Libyan people and the LNA must take the initiative to address Libya’s political crisis, declaring that ‘we did not build an army to stand by and watch Libya dragged into the abyss by abusers’.
