Dabaiba pursues Bashaagha allies for role in Tripoli clashes

On 27 August, the Government of National Unity (GNU) Prime Minister, Abdul Hameed Dabaiba, issued a letter to the Military Prosecutor and the GNU Minister of Interior to arrest all individuals who took part or assisted in the ‘aggression on Tripoli’. On the same day, the GNU Tripoli Military Region issued a decree to disband the 28 Infantry Battalion for supporting Fathi Bashaagha and those aligned with him in attempting to gain control of Tripoli. The 29 Battalion headquarters and equipment are to be seized by the GNU Ministry of Defence (MoD). On 28 August, the Tripoli-based Military Prosecutor, Masoud Rahouma, issued a decision for the Passports, Nationality and Foreign Affairs Department to ban travel of Bashaagha, Othman Abdel-Jalil, Osama Juwaili and Muhammad Sawan among others.
