On 25 March, Government of National Unity (GNU) PM Abdel Hameed Dabaiba chaired a meeting to discuss updates on the illegal immigration file and border security. Attendees included Minister of Interior (MoI) Emad Trabelsi and head of the Internal Security Agency (ISA) Lutfi al-Hariri, as well as the ministers of local government, labour, transport and foreign affairs. Dabaiba emphasized the importance of coordination between various security agencies and ministries to enhance efforts in regulating borders and reducing illegal immigration flows, stressing the necessity to intensify security and intelligence operations and consolidate efforts to address the negative phenomena associated with immigration. Trabelsi reviewed the results of the emergency meeting of the High Committee on Follow up the File on Immigration and Border Security (which he chairs), which was implemented by the outputs of the previous PM meeting on immigration – the measures taken to regulate the borders and strengthen security surveillance were discussed.
