On 26 February, Government of National Unity (GNU) Prime Minister Abdul Hameed Dabaiba welcomed Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the de facto ruler of Sudan and leader of the Sovereign Council, to Tripoli in his first visit to Libya. According to the GNU, they discussed ‘a number of regional and international issues of common interest between the two countries.’ Presidential Council head Muhammad al-Menfi also met with Burhan, discussing the ongoing war in Sudan, peace prospects and bilateral cooperation between both countries.’ In a joint press conference after their meeting, Burhan thanked Libya for hosting tens of thousands of displaced Sudanese, adding that the country is providing them ‘with free education and facilitates administrative procedures’.
