On 25 July, the Attorney General’s Office announced an investigation into two Tunisians for possessing weapons, one of whom was killed. The statement said that the Stability Support Apparatus (SSA) – Nalut Branch received information related to a hidden activity involving weapons and explosives carried out by two Tunisian nationals in the western Libyan border area. One of them turned himself in to the arresting officers and provided information about his companion. The SSA members, with support from the Special Deterrence Force (Rada) – also known as the ‘Deterrence Apparatus for Combating Terrorism and Organized Crime’ – sought to arrest the final gunman, but he threw a hand grenade at the forces and was subsequently shot.
