On 8 February, the Attorney General announced the detention of four members of the Zuwara Coast Guard Branch. They are allegedly involved in an incident in which members of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) tried to stop the embarkation of 37 illegal immigrants for transportation to Italy by members of the Zuwara Coast Guard Branch. The Coast Guard members fired gunshots at the CID members to scare them away, but hit one of them.
On 10 February, the Special Force in Zuwara activated an expanded security plan, which includes imposing a partial curfew on illegal migrant workers from 9:00 pm to 7:00 am in all areas within the Zuwara Municipality.
