In response to the Presidential Council (PC) decision replacing Hussein al-Aib as head of the Libyan Intelligence Service with Abdul Majid al-Mleqta last week, the Special Deterrence Force (Rada) mobilised some of its forces in a show of force in support of al-Aib, with whom it has close ties. Sources report that there have been increased checkpoints and mobilisations around downtown Tripoli over the last week amid rumours and counter-rumours of allies of Mleqta and/or al-Aib launching attacks. So far, there have been no altercations.
