On 21 June, the Government of National Unity (GNU) Ministry of Defence announced that 21 Libyan citizens detained in Niger had been transferred to the GNU in the framework of cooperation and joint coordination between the two countries and the implementation of relevant bilateral arrangements. Those released included Bahradeen Medoun Rifi al-Shraidi, a militia leader opposed to the Libyan National Army (LNA).

On 22 June, the South Liberation Operations Room (SLOR) welcomed the release of the Libyan prisoners as a positive step reflecting the spirit of cooperation, good neighbourliness, and mutual respect between the two brotherly countries. The SLOR thanked GNU PM Abdul Hameed Dabaiba, Deputy PM Salem al-Zadma and Deputy Minister of Defence Abdussalam Zoubi for their efforts which contributed to the resolution of this matter.
