On 14 October, reports circulated that the 444 Brigade and 53 Brigade had been deployed to Bani Walid. Unconfirmed reports claimed the 444 Brigade had also been deployed to Watiya Airbase. According to reports, the 444 Brigade’s convoy included approximately 200 vehicles. Photos of the convoy reportedly show Kornet anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM), T-62 Tanks, and Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles. Unconfirmed reports suggest that 444 forces were accompanied by Turkish-back Syrian mercenaries. The 444’s mobilisation takes place in a context of LNA mobilisation in the Western Region. Over the past few weeks, the LNA has been sending hundreds of armed vehicles west of Sirte (towards Abu Grein) and towards Jufra.
