On 30 September, the Government of National Accord (GNA) Ministry of Defence’s Joint Force captured 5 alleged ISIS members south of Al-Jmayeel, near the Tunisian border. Those arrested include 2 Libyans, 2 Tunisians, and another African National.
On 1 October, the LNA spokesperson, Ahmed Mismari, gave a press conference releasing additional details on the identities and background of the ISIS leaders killed in the LNA raid on a safe house in Sebha in mid-September. Mismari, accompanied by an interpreter, listed the names and nationalities of several individuals who had been killed as well as individuals who remain ‘wanted and active in the region.’ He also indicated that some of the captured ISIS leaders had escaped from Derna/Benghazi following their defeat in eastern coastal Libya in 2015.
