On 21 November in the late afternoon, Khanasa al-Mujahid, a well-known blogger, was killed in al-Serraj in western Tripoli, not far away from their house. She was also the wife of Moaz al-Manfoukh, an influential leader from Zawiyya. She was driving in their car when the assailants opened fire. She tried to escape from the vehicle, but the attackers shot her in the head next to the car. Al-Mujahid was killed instantly.

Some alleged eyewitnesses immediately accused the First Support Force Zawiyya led by Muhammed Bahroun aka al-Far of being behind the assassination. Others accused the Zintani-led Public Security Force of the murder.

Government of National Unity (GNU) Minister of Interior Emad Trabelsi instructed the Criminal Investigation Department and the Security Directorates of Tripoli and Janzour to immediately open an investigation into the murder. He ordered the formation of a task force to investigate, gather evidence and apprehend the perpetrators. Periodic reports are to be submitted every 24 hours.
