On 5 May, the Deputy Head of the United States Mission to Libya, Leslie Ordeman, said the embassy recognised Libyan participants in a US government-sponsored counterterrorism training that aims to ‘strengthen capacity for deterring, detecting, and disrupting terrorist activities’. He added that the State Department’s Anti-terrorism Assistance Program ‘delivers CT training worldwide to help law enforcement officials and first responders deal with security challenges with an emphasis on the rule of law and respect for human rights’.
