On 1 February, the UN Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Farhan Haq, stated that no individual had been proposed to assume the position of UN Special Envoy to Libya following the departure of Jan Kubis nearly two months prior. Haq stated that the Special Adviser to the Secretary-General (SASG), Stephanie Williams, remains tasked with helping to achieve the goal of elections, but noted that Williams is not the leader or the head of the UN mission to Libya.
