On 17 January, the Head of Turkish Intelligence, Hakan Fidan, met with the Government of National Unity (GNU) Prime Minister, Abdul Hameed Dabaiba, in the Prime Minister’s office in Tripoli to discuss the current situation in Libya. GNU Foreign Minister Najla Mangoush, State Minister for Communication and Political Affairs Walid al-Lafi, and State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Adel Jumaa were also in attendance. Later that evening Hakan held another meeting in Tripoli with Dabaiba, High State Council (HSC) head Khaled al-Mishri, Central Bank of Libya (CBL) Governor Sadiq al-Kabir, and Presidential Council (PC) member Mohamed al-Lafi. The discussions were reportedly centred on Libya’s political situation and national elections. Turkish officials are also believed to have met with various leaders from the capital’s armed groups and security apparatus.
