On 25 January, the Senior Advisor to the President for Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs Massad Boulos and his delegation travelled to Benghazi, where they held several more meetings with high-level actors.
According to Boulos, he held ‘productive meetings’ in Benghazi with Libyan National Army (LNA) Deputy Commander Saddam Haftar, Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund Head (LDRF) Bilqassem Haftar, and House of Representatives (HoR) Speaker Aqeela Saleh. They reportedly discussed U.S. support for Libya’s work to unify its military and noted how ‘Libya’s growing partnerships with U.S. companies are helping harness its tremendous potential.’ Boulos ‘underscored that a unified national budget and support for the Central Bank of Libya are crucial to bolstering financial stability and advancing prosperity for the Libyan people and their international partners.’
