On 5 May, Prime Minister Abdul Hameed Dabaiba met with Government of National Unity (GNU) Minister of Interior Emad Trabelsi to discuss progress at the Ras Ajdir border. Trabelsi noted that the MoI was taking steps to prepare the crossing ready to be reopened, with activities including developing the main entrances and installing five large scanners. Trabelsi reported he was coordinating closely with the Tunisian MoI on the issue.
On 6 May, the President of Tunisia Kais Saeed received Trabelsi in Tunis in the presence of the Tunisian MoI al-Fiqi. They discussed issues of mutual security cooperation, including initiating the process of reopening the Ras Ajdir border between the two countries, securing the common border, and cooperation on issues of mutual interest. Trabelsi stressed that preparations are underway by the Libyan side to reopen the crossing once maintenance works and preparation of the facilities are completed.
