On 27 November in the morning, Muhammed Salah Mubarak, a member of the 103rd Infantry Battalion aka al-Sila’a Brigade, was killed. According to some sources, he was shot and killed by an armed gang in the house of his grandfather in the al-Afrin area of al-Ajilat. According to other sources, Mubarak was a member of the local al-Shalfouh militia in al-Ajilat.
The assailants, who arrived on the scene with six armoured cars, belonged to Force 77 aka al-Fahri, a militia affiliated with al-Far. They tried to arrest Mubarak, but he resisted. In the course of the subsequent fight, where RPGs were also used, Mubarak was killed. The building caught fire and was severely damaged. According to other sources, the young man was wounded by gunfire and shrapnel and died in the fire.
On 28 November, another young man, a member of the local Directorate Support Agency, was shot and killed in al-Ajilat.
On 30 November, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Public Affairs, Mahmoud Saeed, met with officials from the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Mayor of Ajilat, and local community leaders to strengthen joint security cooperation between the municipality and the Interior Ministry. The discussions focused on existing coordination among the Ajilat Municipal Council, Security Directorate, and local agencies, as well as the resources needed to enhance their efforts. Saeed emphasized the importance of Municipal Council members working closely with Interior Ministry security services to improve performance and achieve effective security control across the region.
On 1 December, around 50 youth from al-Ajilat gathered in front of the city council to denounce the heinous crime that claimed the life of young Muhammed Salah Mubarak. In their statement, they condemned the silence of both the city’s officials and the government, and called on the Attorney General to establish a special committee to investigate the murder and prosecute the perpetrators, regardless of their background.
