On 18 September, the Tajoura Youth Movement, an armed group/youth movement in Tajoura, threatened to close roads and ‘escalate the situation’ within 72 hours if their demands were not met. Their demands included road maintenance, connecting water from the Man-Made River Project (MMRP) to Tajoura and the payment of salaries. The group also criticised the Government of National Unity’s (GNU) decision to allocate lands in Tajoura to foreign embassies, declaring that this was done in a ‘malicious’ manner, without considering Tajoura residents.
