On 16 April, the Stability Support Agency (SSA) launched a joint security operation targeting illegal migration shelters in Ghariyan. The operation was conducted in collaboration with the Illegal Migration Prosecution in Ghariyan and also involved patrols from the 555th Infantry Brigade, the Office of Security Operations, and judicial security forces. It focused on raiding shelters housing undocumented migrants, resulting in the apprehension of approximately 100 individuals from various nationalities, including men, women, and children. Legal measures were taken following the operation, with some migrants referred to the Illegal Migration Prosecution in Ghariyan. The remaining individuals were handed over to the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency in Tripoli.
On 16 April, a boat carrying migrants on the way to Italy capsized off the coast near Sirte. At least 11 migrants, including four Pakistanis, drowned.
On 17 April, the SSA rescued ten Bangladeshi nationals from a human trafficking ring operating in the Al-Hadaba district in Tripoli. Three Bangladeshi perpetrators armed with knives were arrested at the scene. They confessed to kidnapping fellow countrymen and extorting their families with torture videos, demanding ransoms of USD 10,000 per victim. Investigators uncovered links between these suspects and larger networks operating out of Zawiyya. The arrested individuals have been handed over to the Illegal Immigration Prosecution Office for further legal action. The rescued individuals are receiving care in a migration camp as investigations continue.
On 17 April, the Security Directorate of the Four Districts in southern Tripoli announced the deportation of approximately 500 undocumented migrants of various nationalities. This operation was conducted in collaboration with the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency and supported by the 444 Brigade.
On 18 April, the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency’s branch in Tubruq deported 38 Egyptian migrants via the Umm Sa’ad land border crossing to their home country after preventing their attempt to cross the Mediterranean toward Europe.
On 18 April, in Derna the Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Bureau detained seven Sudanese nationals following a report about a group of African individuals in an abandoned house near the Martuba area (southeast of Derna). The suspects admitted to entering Derna illegally after paying a human trafficker. Authorities have initiated legal procedures to transfer the detainees to relevant entities for further action.
On 18 April, desert patrols of the Libyan Border Guard detained 70 illegal migrants of various African nationalities in cooperation with the Mizdah Joint Security Room during extensive combing operations in the area of Nasmah – Wadi Sawfajjin (east of Mizdah). They were handed over to competent authorities for legal action.
On 19 April, the Law Enforcement Department of the General Directorate of Security Operations announced the establishment of new security outposts between the areas of Nessma and Sukrij to tighten surveillance and enhance operational coverage in the region.
On 21 April, the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency relocated 200 undocumented migrants from Benghazi’s Qanfouda detention centre to Kufra to facilitate deportation. The migrants, primarily of Sudanese and Chadian nationalities, include 47 individuals suffering from various medical conditions. Deportation orders have already been issued for several of the detainees.
