On 2 October, the Stabilization Support Agency (SSA) reactivated a key security checkpoint along the Abu Kammash–Ras Ajdir road, the main border crossing between Libya and Tunisia, following directives from SSA head Hassan Abu Zuriba.
The SSA’s field office in Zuwara-Ras Ajdir confirmed that regular patrols are now underway to safeguard the route, curb smuggling, and protect travelers. According to the SSA, this initiative forms part of a broader national strategy to reinforce border security and uphold public order in regions impacted by illicit activities that threaten both economic stability and local safety.
PM Abdul Hameed Dabaiba categorically rejected this move. He demanded PC head Muhamed al-Menfi, who appointed Hassan Abu Zuriba as SSA commander in May, to halt the move.
