Between 1-2 August, House of Representatives (HoR) Speaker, Aqeela Saleh, and Deputy Head Presidential Council (PC), Abdulalah al-Lafi, met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Mustafa Sentop, in Ankara. Saleh told Turkish media that his visit had been ‘very fruitful’ and called upon Turkey’s assistance in the preservation of stability in Libya and its territorial integrity. Saleh said he was working with Ergodan to restore bilateral relations between the two countries and that Turkish businesses have a critical role in national reconciliation. Sentop emphasised that Turkey saw Libya as an ‘inseparable whole’, and that the parliament’s Libya Friendship Group would soon be making a visit to the country (including the East).
