On 30 October, Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Chief of Staff of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Ground Forces, met with the commanders of the military regions and discussed mechanisms for implementing the LNA General Command’s deci sions regarding the main tasks of the regions. He also reviewed the challenges facing the military regions in fulfilling them. Informed sources report that Saddam has been in the US this week as part of a low-profile visit at the invite of the US State Department and the CIA as part of the US’ broader strategy to convince the Haftar family to loosen their ties to Moscow.
