On 1 November, the Libyan NGO Libya Crime Watch (LCW) published its report monitoring violations and abuses against civilians in October 2024, noting that ‘security and military agencies and armed groups continued to commit violations and international crimes against civilians during October, amid the continued failure of Libyan authorities in the East and West to abide by their obligations to respect and protect human rights.
LCW recorded 12 cases of arbitrary arrest in the cities of Benghazi and Yefren, the discovery of 27 bodies off the shores of the cities of Tripoli, Zawiyya, Tubruq and Tajoura, including three bodies belonging to a woman and two children, and the exhumation of 46 decomposed bodies from a mass grave in Tajoura believed to date back to 2011.
