Reports indicate that Russian military flights between Hmeimim Air Base in Syria (previously Russia’s main operational hub in the Middle East) and Al-Khadim Air Base in eastern Libya have resumed after a five-month suspension – a Russian Ilyushin Il-62M transport aircraft departed from Al-Khadim Air Base bound for Hmeimim. The resumption of flights comes just days after Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa’s visit to Moscow, his first since the fall of Bashar Al-Assad’s regime.
