On 26 November, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Defence Yunus-bek Yevkurov arrived in Benghazi again for a visit. He was welcomed at Benghazi-Benina airport by LTG Khairi al-Tamimi, Secretary-General of the Libyan National Army (LNA), MajGen Khaled Haftar, Chief of Staff of the LNA Security Units, and MajGen Fawzi al-Mansouri, Director of Military Intelligence. Thereafter, Yevkurov met with LNA Commander Khalifa Haftar at the LNA General Command’s HQ in al-Rajma. Yevkurov praised the role of the LNA in maintaining security and stability, while maintaining the unity of Libya.
Haftar was joined in the talks by al-Tamimi and his sons Saddam and Khaled, and others. They discussed cooperation in the field of counterterrorism, joint efforts to achieve security and stability in the region, cooperation programs, and the activities of the Russian military, including the Africa Corps mercenaries in Libya and its southern neighborhood.
