On 16 August, the day of the local elections, the Tripoli Security Directorate reinforced its presence at polling stations across the capital. Officers monitored voter turnout as polls opened and were ready to respond to any incidents, aiming to reassure citizens of a safe voting environment. The Directorate also urged all residents to vote responsibly and help present Tripoli as a model of peaceful, organized electoral participation. The West Coast Military District deployed the 52nd and 103rd Infantry Brigades and the 33rd Special Operations Battalion to secure polling stations in al-Ajilat, Raqdalin, and al-Jamil, ensuring a safe voting environment and strengthening local stability.

There was a shooting inside a polling station in al-Swani. A list of candidates subsequently announced the suspension of its participation in the electoral process in protest at the shooting incident.

On 17 August, UNSMIL hailed the municipal council elections, held ‘peacefully’ and with a preliminary turnout of 71 percent [of the registered voters], as a success in 26 municipalities, praising the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), electoral staff, and security forces for their professionalism and dedication. While votes are being counted and materials returned to HNEC offices, UNSMIL urged all parties to remain calm and resolve disputes through legal channels. It reiterated its call to promptly resume elections in the municipalities where polls were suspended.
