Protests erupt in Khoms over alleged deal for Turkish naval base

In the evening of 6 September, the coastal road was closed at the entrance of Khoms and tires were set on fire to protest the long hours of electricity outage and demanding the cancellation of the alleged agreement between Prime Minister Abdul Hameed Dabaiba and Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin to lease the Khoms navy base to Turkey. On 7 September, the Khoms Youth Movement demanded the rejection of the – alleged – agreement to lease the Khoms navy base to Turkey.
