On 10 September, as part of the ongoing efforts to clear illegal gold mining sites in the Kalinga region, one of the sites where hazardous materials were stored was inspected by the National Mining Corporation. A Libyan National Army (LNA) Field Engineering Battalion began the removal of these materials. The National Mining Corporation will take the necessary measures for remediation.
On 11 September, the 77th Infantry Battalion of the 128th LNA Brigade cleared the last pockets of resistance from Chadian gangs in the Kalinga Mountains on the Libyan-Chadian border.
On 12 September, the 128th Brigade burned all the tents of the Chadian groups in the Kalinga Mountains and arrested many of them for deportation to Chad. According to the LNA, the gold-rich Kalinga Mountains (at the north end of the Tibesti mountain range) are now fully under the control of its forces.
