On 24 May, information about a meeting of representatives from France, the USA, Italy and the UK in Paris was leaked. The aim of the meeting was to discuss options for the formation of a joint force of the Libyan Army and the Libyan National Army (LNA). Participation was at the technical level, i.e. without the Special Representatives of the respective countries. According to reports, the main purpose of such a force would be to secure the southern borders of Libya against smuggling, human trafficking, and terrorist infiltration.
