There were two bank robberies on 18 June: one from the Alejmaa Alarabi Bank in the amount of €150,000, and another of €1.8 million from the central bank. Eight gunmen in two cars intercepted an armed vehicle leaving the central bank.
Benghazi women’s rights activist and lawyer Salwa Bughagis was shot and killed in her home on 25 June by unnamed militiamen. She had recently voted and given an interview on television criticizing the influence of militias in the city.
The constitutional committee concluded consultations in their various constituencies this week and returned to Al-Bayda for sub-committee meetings. On 26 June, a car bomb was detonated in the parking lot outside the committee’s meeting hall in Al-Bayda. No one was killed, but several were injured; the committee was not in session at the time. The attack is the first on the committee itself, which could suggest that militias are turning their attention to the work of the committee.
