The battle between Haftar’s Operation Dignity forces and Benghazi Revolutionaries Shura Council (BRSC)  continues without any restraint. On Wednesday 19 November the two fighting blocks agreed to a 12-hours humanitarian truce which rapidly collapsed without allowing for any relief to be provided to the population in the city. Fighting in al-Sabri resumed briefly on Thursday 20 November, a further proof of the strategic importance that the maritime port maintains at this stage for both camps in general, and for the BRSC in particular.   The fact that fighting revolved particularly around the area of the port underlines once again, if needed, the strategic dimension the control of this infrastructure has for both groups, and BRSC forces in particular. In short we could say that a key thrust of Haftar’s activities is to deny the use of the port to the BRSC. See: http://www.yemeneconomist.com/politics/libya-news/140106.html
