On 29 September, the Commander of the US Military Command in Africa (ARICOM), General Stephen Townsend and US Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland, visited Tripoli, where they met with Presidential Council (PC) head Mohammed al-Menfi. During the meeting, Townsend reviewed with Menfi aspects of joint security and military cooperation between Tripoli and Washington, and the participants discussed the withdrawal of mercenaries and foreign forces from Libya. They also discussed counterterrorism efforts and establishing security in Libya’s south, including its border areas.
