Beginning on 22 April and continuing intermittently through the night until the next day, clashes took place in Zawiyya between an armed group led by Mohammed Bahroun (also known as ‘al-Far’, the ‘Mouse’) and the Al-Kazzab Brigade (aligned with the Al-Nasr brigade led by Mohamed Kushlaf). During the clashes, light and medium weapons were deployed resulting in two deaths and at least four injuries. On 23 April, the National Oil Corporation (NOC) issued a statement reporting that 29 sites at the Zawiyya refinery were subjected to varying degrees of damage from the clashes.
