On 23 April, the Attorney General Sadiq al-Sour ordered the detention of an oil tanker for smuggling illicit fuel from Abu Kammash, west of Zuwara and near the Libyan-Tunisian border. The oil tanker was intercepted by the Libyan Coast Guard and towed to Tripoli Port. Abdul Rahman Milad, better known as ‘al-Bija’, claimed that the Western Coast Guard that he commands was responsible for seizing the tanker and handing it over to the relevant authorities. In an interview, Bija said that his Western Coast Guard had seized 13 tankers used for smuggling since 2016 and insisted he was working alongside the Attorney General.
