On 16 August, the Secretary General of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Khairi al-Tamimi, met with the Minister of Interior of Niger, General Mohamed Toumba, in Benghazi to discuss the security situation in the common border area and cross-border movements. Central topics were counterterrorism and the fight against smugglers. The expansion of bilateral cooperation in the area of security and military cooperation, especially in the common border area was also discussed.
