On 23 February, an LNA Major in Qatroun called Faris al-Furjani confiscated a car from a Tebu man. He met with Tebu elders who accused him of confiscating the vehicle without authority. However, he allegedly refused to return it. He was subsequently shot and killed in the street, reportedly by Tebu armed group members. According to the LNA, the car contained drugs and therefore had to be confiscated as part of a wider operation. The incident has sparked tensions between the Tebu and the Ahali communities in Qatroun. The LNA has imposed a curfew and has moved in troops from outside of the area to beef up security.
