On 19 June, the Libyan National Army (LNA)-Chadian joint forces launched an attack on a Tebu armed group which had defected from the LNA 129th unit of the 106th Brigade. The attack on the groups took place in the Tibesti’s Meski region, inside Chad. It resulted in the death of the group’s commander Abubaker Chagami.
The attack was in retaliation to an attack by the group that defected from the LNA 129th unit, operating from its bases in the Meski goldfields, on the 129th unit’s checkpoint on the Libyan side of the border, recovering previously seized narcotics and arms.
