On 3 July, two border posts of the Libyan National Amry’s (LNA) 676th Battalion at the border with Chad were attacked by a Chadian rebel group. Two LNA fighters, both from al-Marj, were killed, and a number wounded.

On 6 July in the morning, LNA troops attacked a camp of the Chadian rebel group, which had assaulted the border posts on 3 July, in Libya near the border with Chad. The attack was supported by the LNA Air Force. Several Chadians were killed.

The Media Division of the LNA claimed that the operation was successful and resulted in heavy losses among the opposing armed groups. It noted that ground and air reconnaissance units are continuing to pursue the remnants and monitor any suspicious movements in the area. The Media Division emphasized the LNA’s firm commitment to securing the southern border and responding decisively to any threats to national security, stating that any infiltration or attack would be met with a forceful response.

On 8 July, the Chadian rebel group FACT (Front pour l’Alternance et la Concorde au Tchad) issued a statement denying any connection to the ongoing clashes in the south of Libya between its defectors and the LNA, noting that these groups split from it in November 2024. It said that since its founding, it has adhered to a policy of non-interference in the affairs of neighbouring countries.
